Today the girl helped me make some brownies. Of course, from scratch! I intend to compile all of my paternal grandparent's recipes into a cookbook so I would like to try & make as many of them as I can bf I print them out. These babies took abt 20 minutes longer than the suggested cooking time but turned out really nice. She loves to help me do anything but oh, how messy cooking w a 3 yr old can be. At one point there was melted butter all over the floor, which meant not only did I do some baking today, I also did some cleaning.

In an editing note, does this picture look a little cool? I can't quite decide.

  1. Ha ha, I hear ya! My little girl is constantly on her stool next to me in the kitchen. I guess it's good bonding time...and always gives us a cleaning excuse!! I love this shot of her, she's so focused!! Oh, and I might need to get that brownie recipe, I've tried from scratch before and they turned out awful!! ;)

  2. So great that you're willing to let her help you!

The composition of this picture is very nice.

As for the editing, I don't know if I would call what I see cool. It perhaps has a slight greenish tinge to it.

  3. She is so focused on stirring the mix, and so precious her little apron.

I like the color, it looks soft and warm.

  5. What a precious memory. The picture does have a little yellowish/greenish tinge to it.

  6. I've never made brownies from scratch. It's just so easy out of the box :)
The WB is a little off. Can you see how the white of the sugar bag is kind of green? If you use the dropper from the WB panel on that white it will probably fix it right up :) Fluorescent lighting is such a pain!!

  7. I taught preschool 3-4 year olds and they are so precious! I love this age. A great photo that captures her exuberence!

  8. Now are you going to share these recipes with us? hehe. I love this photo... such a great memory for her. I love cooking with my nieces and nephews and will love it with Aiden too when he is old enough I am sure!

  9. I bet those brownies were YUMMY. When my little one helps in the kitchen it always equals more cleaning.

  10. Hmmm.... I tend to prefer warm pictures. Probably warmer than they should be. But I actually don't think this looks cool.
I was thinking about making a recipe book on Shutterfly with my own pictures! Now I'll be thinking about brownies until I cave and actually make them. Sigh...

  11. We made brownies today too. I really like your perspective and think we need to make them again to try another angle. Nice shot.
