Japanese fizzy drinks & a happy accident.
Today has been a crap day. I only had a few minutes to snap the kids having their snacks of Japanese crackers & fizzy drinks & got this shot, not having a plan, just hoping to get a different angle. When I finally saw it I thought it would be perfect w only the bottle in color. I just got Scott Kelby's book on Lightroom in the mail this week & had actually seen an example of this! It was so easy! Duh, you editing geniuses are saying. But I have likened myself to a chimpanzee hitting the keyboard when it comes to editing, so I was well proud when I did this. Yea me.

I'm posting this to CIUAN's I learned bc I did actually learn something I could show you this week!

  6. Love it!!!!! I think this was the perfect "pop" of color. Sorry, the puns just happen. I can't control them. :-)

  7. Thanks guys! My favorite part abt this soda is that when you 'pop' it open it fizzes everywhere! Like champagne for kids! ha
Then the kids are entertained for at least 10 minutes trying to get that marble out.

  9. Did you desaturate everything but the bottle? I have a good handle on the basics in LR... but could stand to learn some tricks :) Maybe I need to pick up that book!

  10. @Megan, yup. Just use the adjustment brush, push the saturation to -100 & 'paint' away.
I actually haven't read the book yet. I just happened to flip thru & saw an example of this.

  11. Hahaha. I am so utterly clueless in post-processing, so no 'duh' from this girl :) This is really a great picture to begin with. But that bottle is SO fun and just perfect for selective coloring. Yay!

  12. I really love this! Beautiful. I really need to finish reading that book instead of just the uploading chapter. Haha

  13. Yeah, I seriously haven't gotten past that chapter either! This technique is around page 179ish (I think)!

  14. I had NO idea how to do that for the longest time! I am not a fan usually, but this is a perfect opportunity to use it! I think I might make it a goal to find a photo op that would make selective color look good this week. You inspired me! :)

  16. This is so cool! I've wanted to do a similar thing with some pictures before, but don't yet have the software. Sometimes those accidental pictures can be better than the purposeful ones:)

  17. this is a great edit, just watch out because you kinda missed some parts in the lower left part. (can see some color). Hope you don't mind the critique, i just seen you post this on ciuan! Anyway, you can ignore me. hehe

  18. I checked it again Janell, in LR & on my blog, but I can't really see where you mean. On the bottle? On the concrete?

  19. How fun! I'm really getting motivated to learn some editing now!! BTW, I see the color Janell is talking about, but it's very slight... just along the edge on the lower left corner. It's TONS better than I could do... I wouldn't even know where to start. AWESOME job!

  20. This is a great edit. Selective colour doesn't work for everything but you nailed it. This is awesome!

  21. I see what janell is talking about. It is in the concrete on the left hand side. I still love this and glad you taught me something new about auto masking! Thanks!! I'm still working on getting my LR to work on this computer! Argh! It's so frustrating!! Will post soon...hopefully!
